She has receivedĀ several accolades, including aĀ Primetime Emmy Award and nominations for twoĀ Golden Globe AwardsĀ and aĀ Tony Award. She was included inĀ Time'sĀ 100 list of most influential peopleĀ in 2014, andĀ ForbesĀ named her the eighth highest-paid television actress in 2018.
Washington gained wide recognition for starring asĀ crisis management expertĀ Olivia PopeĀ in theĀ ABCĀ drama seriesĀ ScandalĀ (2012ā2018).Ā For her role, she was twice nominated for theĀ Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama SeriesĀ and once for theĀ Golden Globe Award for Best Actress ā Television Series Drama.
